Frosted Pine

Frosted Pine is a beautiful cloche style hat that doubles as a beanie. You can wear it with the ribbed brim unfolded for a more full effect with extra coverage, OR with the brim folded up for a snugger fit.

I wrote this pattern using my favorite cast on for 1X1 Rib, the Tubular Cast On. If you haven’t yet tried this cast on I encourage you to give it a go. It’s fun and beautiful! It may take a little practice at first but I think you’ll fall in love with it as I have.

I link to my Tubular Cast On in the Round video in the pattern. But keep in mind that you only need to watch the video until the 12:42 mark. After that, I demonstrate how to convert your 1X1 Rib to 2X2.

The wrapped cables on Frosted Pine may also be a new technique to you. They’re constructed of 6 stitches that are placed onto a cable needle and then wrapped and then knit off of again. I clarify more in the pattern but I’m sure this will be a stitch that I eventually shoot a video for. So stay tuned!
